Marianne Grace Bunt Obituary
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our Dear Mother, Marianne Bunt, in her 88th year. She passed away peacefully at Belmont LTC in Belleville on Thursday, March 20, surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of 47 years to the late Douglas Bunt. Marianne is survived by her sister, Joan McMahon. Marianne was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Alfred Sheffield, and brother, Doug. She is survived by her three children: Carolyn (Dave), Gordon (Noelle) and Ron (Jacqueline) and four treasured grandchildren: Jacob, Lauren, Stephan and Rachel.
Marianne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and after graduating high school she attended secretarial school. She moved to Ottawa, Ontario and worked for an investment company and then as an executive secretary for Texaco. She was a very active member of the Air Force Reserve and was trained in using the early version of radar to plot aircraft flight paths. She made lasting friendships and shared wonderful stories of her adventures.
In 1962, she married Doug Bunt, the love of her life. They were a true team in every sense of the word. She capably ran a household with three children and then returned to support her husband as an office manager at his dental practice in Trenton. She worked at the office for over twenty years and enjoyed her work and the people she met immensely.
Marianne had a beautiful singing voice, loved to sing and was a proud member of the Sweet Adelines singing group for many years. She looked forward to weekly practices, getting ready for competitions and acting as club president. Most importantly, she loved just spending time with her family and making a home for them. She spent a lot of time in her garden and took great care in planning and maintaining her flower beds. The profusion of seasonal colours was always a sight to behold. Summers at the cottage on Lake Consecon brought great fun and contentment.
Mariane was an accomplished seamstress who made many clothes for her children as well as beautiful custom window treatments throughout the home. She was the consummate party organizer and hostess who ensured no detail was overlooked.
Marianne’s enduring legacy will be that of an exceptional wife and mother. Our home was a place of joy, love and peace. This was entirely due to her raison d’etre of surrounding her family with a cocoon of unwavering love and support for which there can be no words to express our eternal gratitude.
Marianne was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church in Trenton for over 60 years. For the past three years, Marianne has been a resident at Belmont LTC, Belleville. Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every staff member for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends at the Weaver Family Funeral Home – East, 29 Bay St., Trenton on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10-12 pm with funeral service to follow at 12 noon. Reception to follow in the Weaver Life Centre. Spring Interment at St. Georges Cemetery.
The family would welcome donations made in her memory to St. George’s Anglican Church in Trenton, The Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice. Memories, stories and condolences can be shared online at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com
