Passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2025 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 85th year.
Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo for 59 years.
Loved mother of Guy (Carolyn), Gino (Heather) and the late Franca. Survived by her son in law Joe Gatti.
Adored Grandmother/ Nonna of Kateryna, Vienna, Mateo, Jacob, Olivia, Jamie (Dylan), Jesse (Jon), Mikayla (Colin), Owen, Chance, and Jake and Great Grandmother/Nonna of Ashlynn and Austin.
Lovingly remembered by her brother Joe Canonico (Carmela), sister Carmela Visconti (the late Vincenzo), Predeceased by brother Tony Canonico (Ida) and Mario and his wife Ottorina, and sister Filomena and her husband Pasquale.
Survived by her sisters in law Pierina (Guido) and Ermelinda in Italy.
Maria was an incredible woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and the matriarch of her family. She was resourceful, loving, and dedicated to her family. She built a life filled with care, creativity, and resilience. Whether through her cooking, gardening, or crafting, she poured her heart into everything she did. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the warmth she shared with those around her. May her memory always bring comfort and inspiration to those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 28th from 2pm to 4pm & 6pm to 8pm at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Mass on Saturday March 29th at 10:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 3800 Courtice Road, Courtice. Followed by entombment at Resurrection Mausoleum.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation or Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
