Marguerite’s life reflected her firm commitment to charity and love for justice. She constantly helped people emotionally and financially. However, whenever she provided material support, she attempted to do so anonymously. She did not desire to be in the limelight; her joy of giving was its reward.
A strong desire to stop injustice meant that Marguerite would not be afraid to stand by her convictions and speak what she believed was the truth. She was not afraid to speak truth to power. However, she was also someone who made me and others laugh with her dry, sarcastic humour (which she derived from her love of British Comedy programs). Even with her arthritis, she had a strong love of doing needlepoint. I am rewarded with some of her amazing work.
Marguerite was a homebody with no genuine desire for travel. She spent a great deal of time around the house, even when she spent 30+ years working as a full-time Administrative Assistant, she still found the time to joyfully do a lot in and around the house. Her career also means she spent a great deal of time editing the thousands of pages of reports and white papers I was required to create and to make it seem like I was a much better writer than I was.
She was a tour-de-force and found peace in her love of God and her strength and joy in the faith she found late in her life. It sustained her through the last few painful years and gave her peace of mind right up to her final moments with a release from her mortal coil to pass peacefully in her sleep.
We will all miss her happiness and strength.
