Rossi, Margaret Viola (Ireland) –
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Viola Rossi on May 16,2025, at home, at the age of 84.
Viola is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Carlo. She was the cherished mother of Cheryl (Rick) Baldin and the proud grandmother of Nick (Lena) and Andrew (Sarah). Viola is also survived by her sister Jean Ferguson; brothers-in-law Bruno and Sam; sisters-in-taw Rena, Jean, and Annie; and many beloved nieces and nephews throughout the Niagara Region and Northern Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Clara Ireland of Burk’s Falls; siblings William, Eva, Dorothy, Jim, and Lillian; and in-laws Pietro, Augusta, Gait, Barb, and Joe.
At the age of five, Viola became the first “blue baby” in Canada to survive the Tetralogy of Fallot reversal procedure in 1946-an incredible milestone that marked her as a fighter from the beginning. Vi was a caring, compassionate, and deeply spiritual. woman with a resilient spirit. Leaving Burk’s Falls with determination to live a full Life, she moved to Niagara Falls, where she met and fell. in love with Carlo. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with their daughter, Cheryl, whom Viola showered with love.
Viola worked for CIBC as a head teller, famously never entrusted with the bank’s gun-a-detail she often joked about. She found immense joy in caring for her grandchildren, Nick and Andrew, and was a regular fixture at their hockey games and soccer matches, always their loudest and proudest cheerleader. An avid golfer and active member of the Catholic Women’s League, Viola especially loved working the toy section at the CWL Christmas Bazaar-where she was known to give away more toys than she sold.
Though Viola will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, her beloved cat Duchess continues to keep her favorite spot at home warm. Special thanks to the palliative care team especially Iran, Johanna and all the PSW’s from Paramed.
