It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Rosaleen Flemming, at the age of 89. She passed away peacefully at Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax, NS, on December 31, 2024. Born in Halifax, Peggy was the daughter of the late Herbert Reay Bridger and Hannah Frances O’Neill Bridger. She moved to Ketch Harbour as a teenager where she eventually married and raised her family.
Peggy is survived by her sister, Florie Price, Vernon, BC; children Janice Coady (David), Ketch Harbour, NS, Dianne Duncan (Sandy McDonald), Halifax, NS, and Andrew Flemming (Deborah), Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Jenna and Melissa Flemming, Edmonton, AB; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary ‘Joyce’ Kiley.
Peggy retired from the QEII Health Sciences Centre where she worked in telecommunications for over 25 years. She was an avid volunteer, including the Alzheimer’s Society of NS and Spencer House Senior Centre, both of which were very close to her heart. Her interests and hobbies included politics, reading, bingo, card games and music. Her beloved cats and dogs were a big part of her life. She was very proud of her grandchildren to whom she was known as ‘Nana’ and loved them dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the loving and caring staff at Parkstone, in particular, the staff on Mount Lane, and to NSH Continuing Care and the VON for their exceptional care prior to Peggy moving to Parkstone.
A private service with family will be held at a later date. If desired, donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of NS, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of choice.
