Died peacefully at Good Samaritan Long Term Care, Alliston on Thursday, March 20, 2025
at the age of 95. Margaret, formerly of Stayner, has now been reunited with her beloved husband of 51 years, Stuart (2006). Loving mother of Bruce (Vesna), John (Cathy) and Janice (Al). Cherished grandmother of Evan (Brianna), Sarah, Duncan, Tasha and Luka. Predeceased by parents William and Maud, siblings Bill (Wilma), Jack (Peggy), Connie (Craig), George (Joyce). Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Margaret was a hardworking working and caring person. She and Stuart farmed in Stayner, first at Sunnidale Corners, then on the 2nd Line. Neighbours from both communities became treasured friends.
Margaret was an avid family historian, long before ancestry websites were available, gathering volumes of letters and photographs in her research. She was a skilled woodworker, photographer and gardener. She played sports in her younger years, being on champion teams in both hockey and baseball where she made many lifelong friends.
She was very active in her community, in 4H, and in Stayner Centennial United Church volunteer work (UCW), cherub choir, and Sunday School.
She and Stuart loved to travel, and had many adventures, including driving coast to coast in Canada in a 1950 Chrysler and several trips to the British Isles to see family and to explore.
Our special thanks to the caring people of Blue Mountain Manor who saw her through covid, and to Good Samaritan Long Term Care Home for the wonderful loving care they gave her in her final years. She continued to see humour in life around her and her witty responses made others smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Saturday, March 29, 2025 for visitation from 10 a.m. for the funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Centennial United Church Hall. Spring interment at Creemore Union Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Margaret to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
