With great sorrow, we are announcing the passing of Margaret Mary Toner (nee Delaney) at 96 years of age. Margaret was beloved by her community and her family. She worked for the Province of Ontario in Social Services for 40 years for the City of Barrie, dedicating her working life to the social service industry.
Peg was an avid knitter, many of her knitting masterpieces are still being passed down and worn today.
Margaret’s husband, John Toner, predeceased her in 1978.
She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Ellen Delaney ( nee Kennedy) as well as her sister Eileen (Larry), and her brothers Ted (Joan) and Richard. She is missed by her dear sister- in-law – Marg Delaney.
She did not have any children but Peg had many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her Nieces and Nephews: Sharon (Harley deceased) Sheila (Garry), Sandy (John deceased) Kim (Brian), Rick (Sue), Pam (Ajay), Gregory (Franny), Tony (Luanne), Mark (Jennifer), and Michael.
She will be missed by Lisa Maloney whose family came from Ireland together with Peg’s family in the 1930’s when Peg was 3 years of age. A special note to Arthur Seamus who remained a loyal companion for her days at Mill Creek Care Centre. A special mention to Dr Kolesky for his special care.
