Margaret Josephine “Peggy” Wilson nee Doherty, was born to Charles and Margaret Doherty in Drumroosk, Co. Donegal, Ireland on February 28, 1934, and died, March 19, 2025 in Peterborough, Ontario.
Peggy lived a very full life filled with adventure in her early years, including living and working in London, England at the Law Society for two years, and then sailing across the Atlantic in 1958 on the SS Corinthia to embark on her new life in Montreal with her beloved Stan, whom she later married in September of 1959. Her passion for the kitchen was matched by her generous heart. She found joy in bringing people together through food which led her to a catering business, cooking for the Franciscan priests at St. Raphael’s Church, and hosting many neighborhood dinners over the years. Later in life, she taught her children and grandchildren how to bake cookies, make pies, roast chickens, and even revealed the secrets of her plum pudding recipe.
Her legacy lives on through those cherished recipes, her twinkling laugh in every photo she was ever in, and most of all within the hearts she touched along the way. She was generous with her time, especially when it came to her grandchildren. She loved them, spoiled them, and supported their various endeavors including drawing, music, Warhammers, and skateboarding.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Stanley Wilson and her two children, Ann Margaret Mary Bradt nee Wilson and son in law Robert Bradt (Lunenburg, Nova Scotia) and Sean Charles Wilson and daughter in law Judith Rioux-Wilson (Peterborough, Ontario); and five grandchildren, Emmanuel, Genevieve, Xavier, and Providence Wilson, and Rowan Bradt.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Monday, March 24th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, Burlington, on Monday, March 24th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
