Fogolin, Margaret (Greta)
It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret (Greta), on Friday, January 31, 2025, in her 89th year. Born on February 13, 1936, in Methil-Leven, Fife, Scotland, to Tom and Sarah Davis, Greta lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
In 1957, at the age of 21, she bravely ventured to Toronto, Canada, where fate led her to the love of her life, Louie (2014), in the most charming of ways—when he did her hair in his salon. Their love story blossomed, and in 1958, they began a beautiful journey together, sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage. Now, they are joyfully reunited once again.
Greta’s heart was her family, and she embraced her roles as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with warmth and kindness. She and Louie filled their home with love, hosting lively card games, visiting dear friends and family, and sharing their fondness for classic Western films, especially those starring John Wayne.
Summers were a time of joy, spent at the family cottage in Woodland Beach, Ontario, where countless memories were made. Later, she found happiness at the beaches of South Carolina and Florida, and in 2017, she returned to the UK and Ireland with her daughters and son-in-law for an unforgettable trip. In her later years, summers in Ohio brought her peace and happiness as she took walks, swam, and enjoyed time by the pool with her children and grandchildren.
Greta had a deep love for music, especially the Scottish bagpipes and Irish songs, which always brought a smile to her face. Though dementia touched her final years, she was surrounded by love, and was cared for lovingly by her granddaughter, Chelsea, who she lived with for many years.
Greta’s kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she is gone, the beautiful memories she created will live on, filling our hearts with warmth and gratitude for the incredible woman she was.
She was a loving mother to Lorna (Patrick) Whyte, Grove City, Ohio, Louisa (Jeff) Easter, Burlington, ON, and Carlo (Pamela) Fogolin, Brampton, ON. Devoted grandmother to Brandon Fogolin, Paulo (Michelle) Fogolin, Ryan (Becca) Whyte, Colin (McKenzie) Whyte, Chelsea Easter, Adam Easter, and Justin (Noemie) Easter. Great-Grandmother to Liam and Callum Whyte. She is predeceased by her parents Tom and Sarah Davis, and her brother Jack (Jane) Davis.
Greta lived a joyful and fulfilling life, leaving behind treasured memories that will bring comfort to her family in the years to come. She will always be deeply loved and profoundly missed.
