It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Marc Larose on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the age of 63.
Marc is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Jennifer (née Colbert), and his two sons, Eric (Cassandra) who now lives in Ottawa, and Ryan who resides in Timmins. While Marc was pre-deceased by his mother, Mona, in 2021, and his favourite uncle, Ivan Martin, that same year, as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susanne and David Mavor, Marc is survived by his father, Rodney, of Timmins, and his sister, Charlene of Ottawa, as well as an extended family of brothers and sisters-in law including Judith and Mark Barkel, Peter Colbert, and David and Karin Colbert, and including a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces, not to mention lifelong friends.
Though life dealt Marc some definite blows, he faced those challenges with courage and fortitude and battled back from early setbacks with Jennifer by his side. He worked hard — very hard — operating his own business and taking on other jobs to ensure that his family never went without the necessities. He was proud of his two boys, and what they have accomplished and the people they have become.
Though at times a man of few words who did not always express how he felt — unless he wanted to start a lively debate — he was always the first to volunteer to put on a big dinner, cook for a crowd, and show his love and appreciation through the food he prepared. If he singled you out for one of these dinners, it’s because he cared, though would not necessarily say that. Marc was a loyal friend — maintaining friendships through the decades. He enjoyed his Bruce, Guns ‘N Roses, Ozzy, AC/DC, 70s music more generally, playing the “name that song” game, besting most who accepted the challenge. With music on in the background at all times in his kitchen, it was hard not to pick up on his passion for food and music.
Marc will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, including his beloved “grand-dog”, Kevin. Our hearts are broken at the sudden hole his passing has left in our lives.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the LESSARD Funeral Home and Cremation Centre. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. Donations are gratefully welcomed in Marc’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
