Peacefully with family at her side, our Mom, Laurene Maloney passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged on April 9, 2025 just short of her 90th Birthday. Predeceased by her husband Clarence (1990). Together they raised their four daughters Joanne Maloney Flanagan (Larry), Barbara Broome (Perry), Carolyn Carere (Ray) and Anne Marie McGregor (Stephen). Adored Grandma of Erin, Joseph, Martin, Kate; Jake, Alex; Adam, Natalie, Mathew; Luanne, and Mitchell. Fondly remembered by Larry’s children Lawrence, Carrie, and Andrea. Proud Great-Grandma of seven. Survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Maloney, Madelon Maloney, Jean Kelly and Eileen Pryce and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents James and Sarah (Jarman) Henderson and her sister Eleanor, her son James (in infancy 1961), granddaughter Alina, great-grandson Mario (infancy) and his mother Dianne Morris – Adam’s loving partner, sister-in-law Lorraine Feeney (Len), brothers-in-law Martin, Leonard, Leon, and Ken Maloney.
Mom enjoyed volunteering in her Community-leading 4-H clubs when the girls were young and later at the Seaforth Food Bank and with the Seaforth Agricultural Society. She was a long-time employee at Stewart Brothers Ladies and Men’s Wear. Mom was a remarkable seamstress doing draperies, alterations, quilts, household decor and her famous flannel P.J’s. These had special fabric suiting each family member and then she created special comforters with the leftover fabric. She could turn her hand at any craft whether it be scrapbooking, wreath making, embroidery or crocheting.
Many thanks to the Staff at Huronlea for their wonderful care and compassion.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street, West on Tuesday, April 15th from 6 – 8 PM. Laurene’s funeral service will be held the following day on Wednesday, April 16th at 11 AM with visitation starting an hour prior at 10 AM. Cremation with interment St. Columban Cemetery, Dublin.
Donations to One Care, Seaforth District Food Bank, St. Columban Cemetery or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
