MacFarlane “Mac” “Farley” Mitchell Fancey Obituary
Mac passed away peacefully in his sleep at Chartwell Georgian Retirement Community, Dundas, Ontario on May 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband to the late Mildred Jane Doreen (May 6, 1950 – April 27, 1969) and the late Pearle Eileen (June 29, 1973 – October 11, 2023). Loving father of Dale (Eleanor, predeceased), Paul (Patricia Munt), Laura (Tyler) Fraleigh and Russell (Andrea) Douglas. Proud grandfather of Bryan (Teresa), Kevan (Desiree), Sean, Cameron (Brenda), Jamie, Carly (Jesse), Tyson (Gabrielle), Greg (Joanne), Nicole (Brian). Dearest great-grandfather of Lincoln, Nora, Catherine, Lauren, Leif, Gabe, Vincent, Marlee, Shelby, Conor and Sophie.
Mac was born in Marie Joseph, Nova Scotia and moved to Camp Borden during WWII where he trained as a trooper in the Armored Division of the Canadian Army. He returned to Nova Scotia after the war to attend college and briefly worked for the Coca Cola company. He then returned to Ontario where he spent the remaining time in the Toronto, Hamilton area working for The Stelco Steel Company.
A special thank you to the Chartwell Georgian Retirement Community for the excellent care and support they provided to Mac during his time there. Also, we are grateful to Lawna Eslary for being a very special friend to Mac during his time at Chartwell.
Cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Grace Anglican Church, 157 Mill Street North, Waterdown starting at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Grace Anglican Cemetery (same location). Note- access to the parking lot is located off of Main St.
A Celebration of Life reception will follow the Memorial Service at Holiday Inn, 3063 South Service Road, Burlington, Ont. L7N 3E9. (905) 639-4443 starting at 3:00 pm. Hotel rooms are available at a discounted rate for those traveling from out of town (call the hotel directly)
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
