Lynne Bateson Obituary
BATESON, Lynne – With a lot of love and admiration, we celebrate the life of Lynne Bateson, who passed away on February 24, 2025. Lynne has finally been reunited with the love of her life, Terry. She was the most caring and charismatic mom to Mel (Jay) and Quinn (Dan), and leaves behind her beloved grandkids Owen, Wyatt, Remy and Mackenzie. Lynne was the best sister to Janice (Ken), and David (Pam), and will be missed dearly by her many nieces and nephews, including Amelia, Tessa, Ehren, and Manelle, whom she adored. Lynne leaves behind her loving mother, Irene, and is predeceased by her father, Jeff. Lynne also leaves behind many of her incredible friends, especially her best friend Leslie Mowat, who was pivotal in helping care for Lynne. We also thank the wonderful personal support workers that cared for Lynne with kindness and compassion. Lynne faced a very long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and was taken from us much too young. She will always be remembered as the vivacious and extraordinary person that we all adored while she was living life to the fullest. Lynne was radiant with a style and confidence that we all admired. Her infectious laugh, love of adventure, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her and loved her. Terry and Lynne shared a love of community and had an incredible and large circle of wonderful friends. They were often hosting or attending social gatherings, big and small, but either way they were found to be the life of the party. Lynne had a wonderfully wicked sense of humour and often relished in a good practical joke, including an unsuspecting plunge in the pool or hilarious prank phone calls and faxes. As a dedicated travel agent, Lynne spent a lot of her life sharing her passion for exploring the world, helping countless people fulfill their travel dreams. She and Terry both loved to travel, and could often be found poolside in Manzanillo, Mexico or exploring the historic towns of Europe. Lynne also was a familiar face at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, not only as an avid social member, but also previously working in administration for many years alongside her best friend, Leslie. Lynne was a community minded person who supported the Glenhyrst Art Gallery and organizing fundraising events including the Taste of Glenhyrst. Lynne was also a remarkable chef and the most welcoming hostess. The Bateson household was often the holiday gathering spot for family and friends, with the best music, drinks and laughter. Whether it was a simple Sunday family dinner or a fancy dinner party for friends, Lynne’s culinary and hosting skills were enviable. Lynne was a true lover of life, with a passion for shopping, the Buffalo Bills, playing (winning!) card games, the best birthday parties, and was known for impromptu dance moves. She had a unique ability to bring the fun wherever she went. Our memories of Lynne are filled with so much joy, from incredible travels, holiday traditions, delicious meals, fine wine, and endless laughter. She knew how to turn every moment into something special, and her vibrant spirit will forever live on in the beautiful memories we cherish. A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held on Thursday, March 27th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, 60 Ava Road, Brantford. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s society or Dying with Dignity, or to your own personal favourite charity.
