Obituary
Ludmila Sergeevna (nee Isakow) was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a woman of deep faith who actively participated in her Russian Orthodox communities, both in Windsor and in Toronto.
Ludmila was born in Byalynichy Belarus in 1925. She came to Canada after the war, via a Displaced Persons camp in Germany, with parents Rosalia and Sergei, as well as her brother Valerian, whom she adored, and who pre-deceased her by a few years. Pavel, her older brother, remained in Russia, and died in Moscow at a too early age and was greatly missed.
Ludmila’s greatest passion and love was for her daughters, Julia and Mary, and their families – Nicholas (Shana) with sons Alex and Will; Elise (Lorenzo) and their daughters Alessandra and Sofia, and her “Zayenka” Olivia, her most favoured companion. In Ottawa, Denis, Dominic and Andre were ever present on her mind, and in her heart and in her prayers.
Ludmila loved people, overall, and would make friends easily at gatherings or even while strolling on the street.
Ludmila was incessantly hard working, had musical talent and a lovely voice, conducted the church choir for many years, was an excellent hostess at her many held parties, loved arts and culture, and dressed up, complete with beautiful hats, and looked outstanding well into her old age. She was regarded by all as kind, beautiful and gracious, even into her last days in long term care, when she was greatly handicapped and immobilized.
Ludmila will be greatly missed yet will always serve as an eternal example of love, loyalty and service.
