Lucy Tymoshenko Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lucy Tymoshenko (née Omelchenko) on February 15, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on November 5, 1938, in Luhansk, Ukraine, Lucy was a cherished daughter and sister, devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. We always found warmth, kindness, hospitality and unwavering support. Lucy found joy in nurturing and nourishing her loved ones.
Deeply committed to her Ukrainian culture and heritage, Lucy was an active member in the Ukrainian Church, and shared her passion for Ukrainian folk music, dance, and art.
Lucy formed cherished friendships throughout her life. Together with her friends, she raised children and supported one another through life’s ups and downs.
Lucy is survived by her beloved children: Kathy (Jim), Helen (Ron), Walter (Natalie), and Nadia (Lynette). She was the cherished grandmother of Natalie (Michael), Christina (Bennett), Elisa, Liam, Alexander, Stephanie, Matthew, William, Jacob, and Kat. Great-grandmother to Benjamin, Alexandra and Maxence. She was deeply loved by her extended family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Lucy is now reunited with her beloved husband, Walter Tymoshenko, who predeceased her. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her, who will carry on her legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19th from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Panakhyda service starting at 7:00 PM, at Ridley Funeral home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke. The funeral service will take place Thursday, February 20th at 11:00 AM at All Saints of Ukraine Chapel, in St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas St. West Oakville. Followed by interment at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canada Ukraine Foundation.
