In Loving Memory of Lucy Pyke
It is with heavy hearts that the Pyke family shares the peaceful passing of their beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother—affectionately known as “Mimi”—sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cherished friend to many, Lucy Pyke, on April 6 2025, at Fergus Caressant Long-Term Care.
Lucy was born Lucyna Bosak on September 9, 1946, in Pszenno, Poland, to her loving parents Czeslawa (Cecilia) and Mikolaj (Nick) Bosak. She immigrated to Canada on June 4, 1958, beginning a new chapter in a new country that would soon become her beloved home. Her strength, resilience, and sense of adventure were evident even then—qualities that would shape the remarkable woman she became.
Lucy passed away quietly, surrounded by love, and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her greatest joy in life was her loved ones—both by blood and by heart. Mimi welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, making each person feel like family.
She will be lovingly remembered as the hostess of all occasions—birthdays, holidays, and every special moment in between. Her incredible gardening skills, beautiful paintings, handcrafted creations, and deep love of the outdoors were reflections of her vibrant and generous spirit.
Lucy was greeted lovingly in heaven by her beloved husband David, her cherished son Richard, and her faithful dog Gypsy. The thought of them reunited brings great comfort to those who mourn her here on earth.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter Samantha and treasured grandson Connor, along with her loving daughter-in-law Nancy, and granddaughters Emily, Katelyn, and Chelsey. Lucy’s love will also live on in her precious great-granddaughters, Abbigail and Eleanor. She will be deeply missed by her sister Barb, brother-in-law Paul, and her many nieces and nephews all of whom were blessed by her warmth, wisdom, and generosity.
Her memory will live on in every flower that blooms, every family gathering, and every act of love shared in her name. She was always loved, and she will always be remembered.
The family would like to extend their deepest and most heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at Care Connection in Acton, Riverside Glen in Guelph, and Caressant Care in Fergus. Throughout Lucy’s time in their care, she was treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and compassion. Their kindness went far beyond duty—they cared for her as if she were a member of their own family. In the most vulnerable chapters of her life, their gentle hands and open hearts brought immense comfort to both Lucy and those who loved her. The family will be forever grateful for the love and support shown by these extraordinary caregivers.
The family will gather for a private celebration of Lucy’s life at a later time, once hearts have had a chance to begin healing and the weight of grief feels a little lighter.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, in honor of the strength and grace she carried throughout her journey.
