Schofield, Louisa Mae – age 93, passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 26, 2025. Born in Yarmouth on August 14, 1931, she was a daughter of the late J. Glenwright and Thelma (Hagen) Smith.
Louisa loved to work outdoors and was an avid gardener. Fall was for planting bulbs, but her favorite time of year was the spring when she could get back into her gardens. She was known as quite the builder and always had a hammer in her hand. She enjoyed family, and always had time for a good yarn. Louisa was very friendly, making friends wherever she went, everyone knew her by name. She loved crafting, and had a witty sense of humor. She was a member and past deacon of the Zion Church in Yarmouth.
Louisa is survived by her children, Harold (Marilyn) Schofield, Coldbrook; Meredith (the late Roger) Nickerson, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Megan (Eric) Rubin, Greenwood; Ryan (Colleen) Schofield, Coldbrook; Tristan Nickerson, and Raylene Nickerson; great grandchildren, Liam and Dylan Rubin, Fiona and Naomi Schofield; siblings Adra Smith, Yarmouth; sisters-in-law, Liz Smith, Becky Smith.
Besides her parents, Louisa was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Schofield; siblings James Smith, George Smith, David Smith, Esther Surette and Tim Smith.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. The funeral service for today, January 30th, 2025 has been postponed until a later date. Family flowers only.
