Lorna Olivia Nahwegahbow (née Evans) passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 30, 1964, in Minnedosa, Manitoba to Harold Arthur Evans and Maureen Edna Campbell, Lorna lived her life fueled by a deep faith and her love of family and friends. Her passion for children led her to a career in teaching, with the last twelve years spent in the fly-in community of Garden Hill in northern Manitoba, where she made a lasting impact. But above all, Lorna’s greatest joy and pride were her family—her three children and their partners: Jeremiah (Jenn), Jessica (Ryan), and Josiah (Rebecca), and her seven cherished grandchildren: Elijah, Eva, Estella, Emilia, Jack, Camilla, and Elias.
She was predeceased by her siblings Sandra VanderVeen and Ted Evans and is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings Evelyn Lasas, Ava Oleson, Leslie Pashuk, and James Evans.
Anyone who knew Lorna knew she lived life with her dial turned up to 11—always ready for an adventure, endlessly curious, and deeply engaged with her family and the many others who became family along the way.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Circle of Life, 100 King St. E, Dundas, ON, from 1:00–3:00 PM and 5:00–8:00 PM.
A celebration of life honoring Lorna with stories, music, and food will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Spice Factory, 121 Hughson St. N, Hamilton, ON. In the spirit of Lorna’s generosity and inclusivity, all friends and family are warmly invited to join in celebrating her beautiful life.
Lorna spent her final weeks at Margaret’s Place, a compassionate and tranquil hospice that provided her with peace and comfort in her last days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to support their invaluable work. She also passionately supported organizations such as World Vision, Operation Smile, and 24-7 Prayer, and any contribution in her honor would be a meaningful tribute to her generous spirit.
