With deep sorrow and eternal love, the Herrera Payeur family announces the passing of Lorena Herrera Vanegas, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at Providence Care Hospital after a brave and lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
Lorena was born in Mexico City on November 11, 1980, and from that moment on, she brightened the lives of everyone around her with her light, strength, joy, and compassion. She was a daughter, sister, mother, friend, and confidante. Her laughter was contagious, her heart immense, and her spirit unbreakable.
For nearly seven years, she faced her illness with strength and grace that inspired everyone who knew her. She never lost hope and never stopped caring for others, even on her most difficult days.
She is survived by her sons, Esteban and Emiliano; her parents, Rebeca and Luis; her siblings, Sandra, Luis, and Marco; Nephews Maria, Pablo, Ana, Isaac and many more. Forever held in the heart of the love of her life, Paul. As well as aunts, uncles, and cousins – a large extended family who loved her deeply.
Her legacy lives on in every person she touched with her kindness and courage.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the medical staff, friends, and loved ones who supported her throughout this journey.
Rest in peace, mami, baby, mani. You will always be with us.
A visitation will be held at the Wartman Funeral Home – Kingston on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 6 pm – 8 pm. A service to remember Lorena will take place on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Bay Park Baptist Church (775 Progress Avenue) followed by a reception at the church. Donations in memory of Lorena made to Impact Church – Hope Air would be appreciated by her family. Condolences and donations may be forwarded online through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
