Loraine Alma White of the Meadow’s Home for Special Care in Yarmouth passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the Meadow’s. She was born in Canaan Yarmouth Co. on April 22, 1935, and was a daughter to the late Murray and Goldie (Burrill) White. Loraine was gifted with a green thumb and the ability to create beautiful flower gardens. She was a member of the Yarmouth Garden Club and won several Mayflower Awards for her gardens. She held many jobs throughout her career, including South Shore Credit Bureau, MT&T, and Tusket Ford, where she retired. Loraine is survived by her daughter Catherine “Lynn” Chisholm; siblings, Doreen (the late Kenney) Williams, Gordon White, Gerry (Rosemary) White, Sheila (Edwin) Robicheau, Richard (Jackie) White; former sister-in-law, Jane White; grandson, Aaron (Lindy) Richards, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Loraine is predeceased by her first husband and father of her children, Hugh Chisholm; children, Marlene Knight, Michael Chisholm, and Vera Rosemary Chisholm; siblings, Carmen White, Wendell White, and Sandra White. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yarmouth where cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will occur Monday, January 20, at 1 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tom Cann officiating. A reception will follow the funeral service in Jacob’s Loft above Sweeny’s Funeral Home. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
