In Loving Memory of Lojzka (Louise) Svetina nee Šušteršič
At home on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, in her 96th year, Lojzka, beloved wife of 67 years of the late Lojze (Louis), passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She was the loving mother of her three daughters, Christina (Gary Hull), Lucy (Val Končan), and Martha (late Ernie Grzinčič). A cherished Mami, Stara Mama and Super-Stara Mama, she leaves behind her grandchildren: Daniel, Adam (Marie), Sarah (Jeff), David (Marisa), Steven (Niki), Diana (Brandon), Gregory (Amanda), Ivana (Ron), Marko, Victoria, and Julia; as well as her great-grandchildren: Brendan, Paige, Zachary, Noah, Isaiah, and Madison. Louise will also be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews across Canada, USA, Spain, and Slovenia. She is predeceased by her beloved brothers and sisters.
Family and friends will forever treasure the warmth and love that radiated from the Svetina home. Lojska kept a bottle of Jägermeister on hand to share with anyone who visited. Lojzka’s kitchen was the heart of her family, where countless hours were spent chatting and reminiscing about life. She loved to bake and cook, right up until her last days when she helped in preparing the Christmas Day meal. Her tireless dedication to the Slovenian community, through fundraising and helping those in need, will always be remembered.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 5th, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Ridley Funeral Home and, again, on Monday, January 6th, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery, Mississauga.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Dom Lipa or Viktoria Fund, causes that were dear to Lojzka’s heart.
Lojzka’s legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
