Obituary of Lloyd Thomas Sprague
Sprague, Lloyd – Lloyd Thomas Sprague born on Aug.11, 1943 left us on February 26th, 2025. Our hearts are broken. There will be such a void in our lives forever. He is now at peace without pain. His spirit will live on through his wife, Susan O’Brien Sprague of 40 years, his daughter, Bonnie Rans of Quispamsis, his son, Jamie (Raveen) of Whistler, B.C., his stepson, Craig (Annie) Donaldson, his stepdaughter, Shanell O’Brien. Grandchildren, Derek (Sarah) Rans, Erika Rans (Ben Mellow), Connor Donaldson, Grace Mouland, Kate Mouland and great granddaughter, Elin Rans. His sister, Beverly Sprague-Chestnut, brother-in-law John Chestnut of Hatfield Point, N.B, and several nieces and nephews.
Lloyd’s passions were salmon fishing at his cabin on the beautiful Miramichi River and duck hunting with his best pal Piper. Lloyd was never at a loss for friends, whether it was his buddies at the pub, or playing cards with the boys, fishing and hunting with his cousins and nephew (Shane) that meant so much to him. To Lloyd, his heaven on earth was sitting on the deck at his cabin with a cold beer or a glass of rum watching the river go by. Lloyd was a master carpenter and took great pride in building the cabin and our home.
Lloyd was born in Chatham Ontario where he spent 2 years of his life, from there the family moved to Ministers Island N.B. To attend school, they moved to the Sprague family farm in Hatfield Point N.B. on the beautiful Belleisle Bay. His trade was a millwright which he worked at for 32 years and known to his colleague as “Hayseed”. He played hockey on the bay after school and never missed a chance to go off with his fishing pole.
Lloyd was predeceased by his father Gordon, his mother Jean (Folkins), sister Susan, his son Lloyd Jeffery and his brother Richard Sprague.
As his wife, I can say, I never saw a more handsome, capable man in my life. I will love him forever.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to The Bayview Cemetery or The Arthritis Society. A Celebration of Life will take place at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506-849-2119) on Sunday March 2nd from 2:00-6:00 PM with a Eulogy being read at 5:00 PM. There will be a committal at a later date.
