In loving memory of Ljuba Bede (Basar) who passed away on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 at Health Sciences North at the age of 98.
Beloved wife of Franjo “Frank” Bede predeceased 2022. Loving mother of Josie (Bede) Visockas (Frank predeceased) and Michael Bede (Lillian Joly predeceased). Cherished grandmother of Lee Visockas (predeceased) and Kirk Visockas (Marcy Lafortune) and great grandmother of Victoria Visockas. Predeceased by her parents Janko and Magda (Rozic) Basar, sisters Frances Puljak, Eva Bakin, Pavla Mihalic and brothers Matta Basar and Guida Basar.
Born in Trg, Croatia, Ljuba immigrated to Canada with her husband Frank in 1957, settling in Sudbury. They spent their summers picking blueberries and cherished visits back to Croatia. Active in the Croatian community, she was a member of Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church and enjoyed many events at the Croatian Hall. After years of service as a school custodian, she retired from the Sudbury School Board. The family would like to thank the staff at Chartwell Meadowbrook for their friendship and care and the 6th floor at HSN. Appreciation is extended to Lillian Lebo for all her support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church.
Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury where friends may gather after 9am Monday. Funeral Mass in Sveti Marko Croatian Catholic Church, 140 Alder Street, Sudbury on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 11:30am. A lunch will follow in the church hall. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Garson.
