La famille annonce avec grande tristesse son décès à Sudbury le dimanche 23 mars 2025 à l’âge de 89 ans. Époux bien-aimé de Adrienne (née Bélanger) depuis 68 ans. Fils de feu Napoléon Lalonde et de feu Irène (née Moncion). Cher frère de Roger (feu Eugénie) et feu Germain. Père bien-aimé de Gisèle Yasko (Michel), Jacques (Suzanne), Marc (Cindy), Alain (Suzanne) et Michel. Pepère de Jodie, Shawn (Dominique), Paul (Nicole), Patrick (Abbey), Eric (Rayna), Alex, Jonathan et Marianne ainsi que 9 arrière-petits-enfants Katia, Makenna, Taya, Hudson, Declan, Maelyn, Maelle, Loic, Olier.
Il a œuvré dans plusieurs domaines tout au long de sa vie dont électricien, enseignant, conseiller scolaire, conseiller régional et maire de la ville de Rayside-Balfour pendant 12 ans ainsi conseiller pour la grande ville de Sudbury au moment de sa création.
La famille tient à remercier le Dr. Nykilchyk ainsi que le personnel de la maison McCulloch pour leur service exceptionnel tout au long des derniers mois de sa vie. On veut aussi remercier le Dr. Guy Mongeon, son médecin de famille ainsi que le Dr. Mittal et le Dr. Jani qui ont su appuyer Lionel ainsi que notre famille tout au long de son combat avec le cancer.
La famille recevra parents et amis à la COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE, 4691 Regional Road 15, Chelmsford, le jeudi 27 mars 2025 de 14 h à 17 h et de 19 h à 21 h 00. Une messe funéraire sera célébrée le vendredi 28 mars 2025 à 10 h à la Paroisse Notre Dame du Rosaire, Blezard Valley. The family announces with great sadness his passing in Sudbury on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Adrienne (née Bélanger) for 68 years. Son of the late Napoléon Lalonde and the late Irène (née Moncion). Dear brother of Roger (late Eugénie) and the late Germain. Loving father of Gisèle Yasko (Michel), Jacques (Suzanne), Marc (Cindy), Alain (Suzanne), and Michel. Pepère to Jodie, Shawn (Dominique), Paul (Nicole), Patrick (Abbey), Eric (Rayna), Alex, Jonathan, and Marianne, as well as 9 great-grandchildren Katia, Makenna, Taya, Hudson, Declan, Maelyn, Maelle, Loic, Olier.
He worked in several fields throughout his life, including electrician, teacher, school trustee, regional councillor, and mayor of the Town of Rayside-Balfour for 12 years, as well as councillor for the greater City of Sudbury at the time of its creation.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nykilchyk and the staff at McCulloch Hospice for their exceptional service throughout the last months of his life. We also want to thank Dr. Guy Mongeon, his family physician, as well as Dr. Mittal and Dr. Jani, who supported Lionel and our family throughout his battle with cancer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691 Regional Road 15, Chelmsford, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame du Rosaire Parish, Blezard Valley.
