Linda Bomersback Obituary
Linda Bomersback nee McKnight, beloved wife of the late Larry Bomersback, and mother to Kirk, Pamela and Trevor Bomersback, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Monday January 20, 2025, at the age of 77. She rallied hard, but ultimately went home to the Lord, to be in the loving arms of her late husband Larry.
Linda was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and grew up in Kindersley. She married her high school sweetheart Larry in 1965, and shortly thereafter moved to Calgary, Alberta where she remained.
She worked for the Calgary Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aide for years and found incredible joy and a sense of accomplishment in working with elementary school kids. She connected with “her” kids on a personal level and gave them extra support in math or reading.
Linda had a love of the outdoors. She enjoyed regular walks with Larry, camping in the summers. You would be hard pressed to find a day that she was not tending to her flowers and yard in the little slice of paradise that was their home in Haysboro. She enjoyed participating in sports with Larry where they played on a baseball team and curled with neighbors and friends. She also treasured watching her grandkids in their latest sports endeavors and was always the cheering and supportive Grandma. Linda loved having her visits with her family from Kindersley.
Linda’s special gift was connecting with people and making lasting friendships. She had colleagues she kept up with, neighbors and friends she coffee’d with, even friends from her childhood. Her home was always filled with incredible aromas as she loved to host family or friends. Linda’s meals were always made with incredible love and served piping hot. Linda entertained friends and family often and had an open-door policy. Neighbors would often come in the evenings for tea & cookies or simply to chat. She would share of herself and talk about the love of her family, often listening more than talking. She spent many nights around her kitchen table enjoying her family, or when asked, giving sage advice to her beloved children or grandchildren. She connected with them often, over the telephone or in her living room, encouraging them and taking time to hear about the exciting things they were doing and their dreams and aspirations for the future. There was nothing that filled her with more joy than when her family was all around her, and she sat back to enjoy playing a game or watching them with all their laughter and antics.
Linda was a positive light and an optimistic person. Linda was the most kind and selfless person, never hesitating to put others first. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she always put in 100%. Her courage and resilience in the face of adversity was just one of her many admirable qualities. Her unconditional love and dedication to Larry was an inspiration and a testament to her love. Her unconditional love and unwavering support for all her family will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela; her two sons and two daughters-in-law, Kirk (Liz), and Trevor (Taryn); eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Dylon) and Alicia (Sam), Connor, Alexander (Taylor) and Jaeda, Jace, Grayden and Emery; and two great grandchildren, Amelia and Charlie.
Linda is also survived by two sisters, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Barb and Rob of Kindersley, SK, Sandy and Tom Ackerman of Kindersley, SK and Fay Bomersback of Calgary, AB. She also leaves behind eight beloved nieces, one nephew, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many, many beloved friends.
Linda was predeceased by her loving husband, Larry; and her parents, Keith and Babs McKnight of Kindersley, SK.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday February 22, 2025 at First Assembly Church (6031 Elbow Drive SW) Calgary, Alberta.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Choice Memorial of Calgary AB. Condolences for the family can be expressed here or on the Choice Memorial webpage at www.choicememorial.com/obituaries/Linda-Jean-Bomersback?obId=35202949
