Linda May Winfield (nee Van Nest), 73, of Lindsay Ontario, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Hospice Peterborough after a short and sudden battle with cancer.
Linda will be remembered by all who knew her as a proud and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Linda is survived and will be greatly missed by her children Brian (Allison Frost), Jennifer (Dana Lynch), Amanda (Mark Ilkov), and Christine (Scott Dinnage), her grandchildren Emma, Max, and Cameron, her sisters Barb Price (Dale) and Fern Clement (Paul), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by sister Patricia Cameron (Norm), and brothers Ronald (Jan) and Keith. Linda shared and raised her four children with her ex-husband and friend, Bill Winfield (2024).
Linda found great joy in many things. Some of her favourites included time with family and friends, listening to and playing country music, attending local dances, and tending to her flowers. Linda loved her job at Hydro, working in different offices throughout Fenelon, Lindsay, and Peterborough over her career until retiring in 2020. Although humble, Linda lived her life with incredible strength, patience, resilience, kindness, generosity and compassion and her beautiful spirit touched and warmed the lives of so many. All her family and friends will miss her dearly but will continue to cherish her memory and carry her love with them in their hearts forever.
A celebration of life is being planned and will take place later in the spring. The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff at Hospice Peterborough for their incredible care and compassion in her last weeks. If desired, donations to Hospice Peterborough or Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes would be appreciated by the family.
