Linda Lee MacDonald
(née Jenkins), July 29, 1947 – December 20,
2024
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce
the passing of Linda Lee MacDonald, 77, of Trenton, Nova Scotia. Linda
passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2024, at Manatee Memorial
Hospital in Bradenton, Florida while surrounded by her loving husband
Hugh and granddaughter Lauren.
Linda was the beloved wife of Hugh MacDonald and the proud
and devoted mother of Paula Brewer Colter (Robert) of Fredericton, NB.
Being Hugh’s wife and Paula’s mother were the
greatest joys of her life and so was being Nanny Scotia to
granddaughters, Lauren (Alexander) and Grace Colter. Linda cherished
her granddaughters and would travel often to spend precious time with
them. She loved to take them to the beach, usually for salty swims or
for clam digging.
Linda and Hugh shared a love story built on respect and
unwavering support. Together, they created a beautiful blended family
that brought them both pride and happiness. Linda was a caring
stepmother to John MacDonald (Chantal), Roger MacDonald (Tammy), Paula
MacDonald, and Lori MacDonald. She embraced her blended family with
love, becoming a proud grandmother to Teresa MacDonald, Kaitlyn
McMullin (Josh), Alyssa MacDonald and a great-grandmother to Aubrey
and Lincoln McMullin.
Born and raised in Trenton, Nova Scotia, Linda was a daughter
of the late Daniel and Jean Jenkins. She grew up in a large and
close-knit family, number 10 of 12 siblings, who shared a home filled
with faith, love, laughter and a strong work ethic. For Linda, her
family meant everything to her and she was never happier than when
surrounded by the people she loved most. Her brothers and sisters
weren’t just her family, they were her best friends. Linda
made many wonderful friendships during her years living in Fredericton
and while working at the Fredericton Medical Clinic.
Linda’s legacy is one of love, faith, and boundless
compassion. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose kindness and warmth
left the world a better place. Her memory will live on in the hearts
of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her sisters: Gladys Lorimer of Trenton and
Doris Dixon (Roger) of Bedford; and her brothers: Foster Jenkins
(Dorothy) of Pictou Landing and Daniel Jenkins (Susan) of Chance
Harbour; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her brothers: Robert, John, and Ross, and her sisters: Elsie Ryan,
Eleanor MacDonald, Judy Crandall, and Debbie (Eva)
Edwards.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on
Saturday, January 11th, from 2–4 pm at Summer Street, 72
Park St., New Glasgow, with Words of Remembrance at 3pm. A private
interment service for family will also be held at Hillside
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to First United
Church (PO Box 325, Trenton, NS, BOK 1XO) or to a charity of
donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H.
Porter Funeral Home.
