VELOCE, Lillian (nee Mascella) 1960 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian on January 10, 2025, at the age of 64, surrounded by her family. Forever remembered by her husband Joseph; she was his beloved wife and best friend for over 39 years. Devoted mother to Laurelle (Alex), Daniel (Jacqueline), Deanna (Tyler), and Marisa (Elias). Adored nonna of Emilio, Giorgia, Celeste, and Sofia. Beloved daughter of Carolina (nee Sciascetti) and the late Carmine, and daughter-in-law of Joseph and Maria Veloce. Dear sister of Anna (Mario), and sister-in-law of the late William (Lucia), and Nick (the late Patricia). Lillian will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Lillian was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. She began her career in the travel industry and later worked in the service industry supporting older adults with their pensions and benefits. Lillian and Joseph married on August 3, 1985, and moved to Burlington in 1987 where they shared a passion for family, raising 4 wonderful children.
From an early age, Lillian knew what was most important to her: loving and spending quality time with her family. Her deepest passion was her children. Raising, supporting and watching them grow brought her great joy. In recent years, Lillian was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren who she adored dearly. They will always remember her beautiful smile and warm nature. She was principled, loving, kind, generous and patient; qualities which made her loved by family, friends, and everyone she met. They also made her an excellent chef and gardener. When her children left home, she would spend countless hours in her gardens. She was patient and meticulous in her planning and designing, and with the help of Joseph, her gardens became more glorious year after year. Lillian’s memory and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff of Fidani Cancer Centre (Credit Valley), Odette Cancer Centre (Sunnybrook), Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Joseph Brant Hospital who supported and cared for Lillian over the past two and half years. A special thank you to Dr. Bartens and Dr. Sorensen, and Lillian’s caregivers from Ontario Health atHome who provided her with comfort and support over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lillian to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
