Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leslie Fudge, a beloved husband, father, uncle, and brother, on January 23, 2025. He passed away peacefully at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, surrounded by love and care.
Born on May 13, 1927, in Francois, Leslie lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion to his family, friends, and faith. A man of deep integrity and quiet strength, he spent many years working as a skilled carpenter, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community alike.
Leslie is predeceased by his wife, Carol; his brothers, Jack (and Stella), Sam, and sister Jessie (and Samuel). He leaves to mourn his daughter, Edwina Bateman (and husband Melvin); his son, Wade Fudge (and wife Mary Lou); his grandson, Jason Fudge; his nephew, Ross Fudge (and wife Marie); his sister-in-law, June Fudge; his life-long friend and brother by heart, Leo Carter (and daughter Lorraine), and a large circle of cousins, nieces and nephews. They will forever cherish his love, guidance, and the countless memories that now bring comfort.
Leslie was known for his warm smile, his generosity of spirit, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved. He found great joy in woodworking in his cherished “storehouse” and attending church services at St. James Anglican Church. Those who knew him will always remember his gentle humor, curious nature, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to East Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, from 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m.
As he would want, a service to honor and celebrate Leslie’s life will be held on Sunday, January 26, at 3:00 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church. Interment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. James Anglican Church in his memory.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Wilson and Thelma Dominey, Diane Hewitt, JoAnn O’Brien, and Glenda Feltham, whose kindness and support have been a blessing during this journey.
A special thank-you to the exceptional Long Term Care Team at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Your compassionate care and tireless dedication ensured that Leslie’s final year was filled with dignity, comfort, and love. To Shelley Nichols and Chelsea Wells of the Recreation Team, we extend our deepest thanks for the joy and laughter you brought to his days. Your creativity and kindness brought smiles that will forever remain in our hearts.
We are also deeply grateful to East Haven Funeral Home, Rev. Jane Allen, and Rev. Faye Coffin for their support and professionalism, and to all who have offered us comfort through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, and prayers during this time of sorrow.
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
