Our beloved father, Leonard J. Grant MacDonald, peacefully passed away with family by his side on January 11, 2025 in Dartmouth Nova Scotia.
Born in Searltown, Prince Edward Island he was a son of the late Leonard J. and Catherine (Campbell).
Education: St. Mary’s University, Bachelor of Arts and Education, Dalhousie, University, Masters in Education. He spent his career as a teacher and Vice-Principle with the Dartmouth District School Board.
Married to his wife Josephine (nee MacIsaac) for 46 years, Grant is survived by son Joseph MacDonald; daughters Cecilia MacDonald-Keyworth (Barrie); Sherri MacDonald (Scott Langley); Catherine MacDonald, and Susan MacDonald.
Grandchildren: Brendan Keyworth (Jason Lushington) Kate Langley (Tim Doucette), Stephen and Mitchell Keyworth, and the youngest John David Everson.
He has survived by sisters, Catherine Clayton, and Caroline Bird (Mike) as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years the former Josephine MacIsaac, siblings Gerard, Louis, and Janet and niece, Michelle MacDonald and sister-in-law, Judy MacDonald, and sister-in-law, Suzanne.
Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. January 16, 2025 Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street, Dartmouth Nova Scotia.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday January 17, 2025 from Saint John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 35 Colby Drive, Dartmouth January 17, 2025.
A reception will follow 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the church hall, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
