Obituary
Leendert Hendrik Kroese (Leo) May 21, 1930 – January 20, 2025
We sadly announce the passing of Leo in his 95th year, peacefully, at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on January 20th, 2025.
Born on May 21, 1930 in Amsterdam, Holland, to Juliaan and Johanna Kroese, Leo was the youngest of 6 siblings (all pre-deceased) and immigrated to Canada at the age of 27 with his wife and young daughter, where he built his life as a Master Electrician and was a very proud member of his Local 105 Chapter of IBEW for over 60 years.
Leo retired from Ford Motor Company in 1995 and spent his early years of retirement as co-owner and host of house-keeping cottages alongside his wife and daughter in beautiful Muskoka for many years. Leo enjoyed travelling to warmer climates in the winter and visiting with family in his homeland, The Netherlands. Leo spent his remaining years independently and quietly in his home of 60 years in Oakville and enjoyed tinkering and repurposing.
Leo, is predeceased by his wife of 51 years Johanna (Ann) in 2006. Leo is survived by his children, Joyce, Alfons, Len, Mary-Anne (Dan), grandchildren Lesley, Jeff, Laura (Brad), Brad, Alexandra (Justin), Katelyn, Jack (Sienna), Ben, Garrett and great- grandchildren Sophia, Elly, Holly and Ryker. Leo will also be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews and extended family in the Netherlands.
In Leo’s memory please make a donation to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital or charity of your choice.
A gathering of family and friends to remember Leo will be held at Kopriva-Taylor Community Funeral home at 64 Lakeshore Road West in Oakville on February 15th 2025 between 1 and 4pm.
