Leah Engleby Obituary
Leah Engleby
September 25, 1964 – May 13, 2025
Leah Darlene Engleby (nee McGugan), born September 25, 1964, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side Tuesday, May 13, 2025, after an unbelievably courageous and determined battle with cancer. Loving wife for 23 years of Matt Walker, and dear mother of Ashleigh (Jami Ruf), Erin (Jeff Thompson), and Mya Pollard (Benjamin). Beloved grandmother of Charleigh, Samuel, Hannah, William, Heidi, Hailynn and Jameson. Lovingly remembered by Ashleigh and Erin’s father Earnie Engleby. Loving daughter of Carol Jehnn (nee Marchment). Beloved sister of Carl, Jay, Susan, Mark, and Jennifer. Remembered especially by her Aunt Laura Marchment, who travelled the road of life with Leah for 60 years.
Predeceased by her father Wayne McGugan, her stepfather Colin Jehnn, and her sister Kathy.
Born in Brampton, Ontario, she lived in Glen Williams, Ontario, Vancouver, British Columbia, and eventually settled in Guelph, Ontario, where she met Matt. She was unconditionally committed to her family and her principles. A witty, fun-loving, independent, and carefree spirit, she was generous to a fault, and was given to hospitality, preparing countless meals for large groups of family and friends. She had a great love for reading, the outdoors and the sounds of children playing. Leah found faith in the last years of her life, which was a source of great comfort to her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Special thanks and deep gratitude to the staff at Hospice Wellington, for their kindness and care for Leah throughout these last weeks. God’s hands of comfort and care manifested in them, and it will never be forgotten. Leah’s family would be grateful for donations to Hospice Wellington in her memory.
