Surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Laura Kathleen Winnifred Wiffen of Woodstock, formerly of Tillsonburg, at Woodstock General Hospital at the age of 87 years. Loving and supportive wife for 66 years to her husband Lewis “Lew”. Caring and supportive mother to her children Stephen Wiffen and his wife Tina Plett, Neil Scott and his husband Darek Zielinski and the late Joanne (2001). Laura was a proud and devoted grandmother to Bradley and his wife Brynn, Meghan and her fiancé Andrew, David and his wife Brie, and the late James (2019). Great grandmother to Aubrey, Emmie and Malcolm. Laura was sister-in-law to Bob and his wife Amy, and the late Barb and her surviving husband Uwe. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Andrew Scott, her mother Elizabeth Lucy, her brother Robert, sister-in-law Gladys, brother-in-law Lloyd, sister-in-law Irene and sister-in-law Joan. Laura was a round dance instructor with her husband Lew for 25 years in Toronto. She was a highly skilled secretary with IBM. She was a devoted and active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Tillsonburg. Laura and Lew were Facilitators of the Eternal Partnership program in Tillsonburg, they were also Tour Escorts for over 20 years and loved to travel. She will be remembered for her competitive nature while playing any game. Her family will also cherish the memory of her famous shortbread cookies, her Irish soda bread, her wonderful cross stitching and her love for her Toronto Blue Jays. Cremation has taken place for Laura. The family will be hosting a visitation and memorial service for Laura at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46 Ridout St. W., Tillsonburg on Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:30am until 12:00 noon followed by the memorial service at 12:00 pm. A private family interment will be held at Tillsonburg Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. John’s Anglican Church, Tillsonburg or LHSC-Brain Tumour Research, may be done directly with the Charity online or by cheque, by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
