Obituary of Larry Keddy
Larry Leo Keddy, 75, of New Ross, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.
Larry was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to the late Mary and Leo Keddy on September 29, 1949. He graduated from New Ross Consolidated School, then went on to study Electrical (Marine) at Kings Regional Vocational School. After graduation he worked at the Halifax Dockyards, then the Anil Plant in East Chester, Larry managed and operated Keddy’s Auto Service in New Ross before going to work on the offshore oil rigs for Rowan Co. After retirement Larry could be found around New Ross; mowing lawns, working in Micheal Keddy’s yard or driving people wherever they needed to go
Larry was a long-standing member of the New Ross Legion, Branch #79, as well as a devoted and proud member of the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He loved to dance and could be found at most of the Fire Department functions dancing the night away with anyone who would dance with him. Larry loved spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed hosting his famous pizza parties and was never one to miss a family meal. He will be remembered for his fondness of basketball, tug of war in his youth, and throughout the years watching the Maple Leaf’s trying to win another Stanley cup, telling everyone this will be the year. In his later years he could be found at the lake playing washer toss while spending time with friends and family. He was never one to shy away from an argument, and always voiced his opinion, whether you wanted it or not.
Larry is survived by his wife, Teresa (AKA Terry) Keddy; daughter, Veronica Keddy; son, Larry ‘Leo’ Keddy (Krista Hunter); sister, Bonnie (Dale) Broome; brother, Alden Keddy (Donna Skerry); grandchildren, Lincoln Hunter-Keddy and Nova Keddy, all of New Ross, Nova Scotia. Along with many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Keddy; mother, Mary (Larder) Keddy; and his sister, Anne Marie Keddy.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Valley Regional Hospital who cared for Larry.
Larry (Husband/Dad/Popa) will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
As per Larry’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. If you wish to toast in his memory, a glass of Appleton Estate or Ginger Ale will do the trick. Memorial donations may be made to NRVFD and/or to New Ross Legion Br 79 Poppy fund or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS B4R 1B9.
