Kurt Henning passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Thursday February 27, 2025 at the age of 80, with his children by his side.
Predeceased by his beautiful wife Karin Henning of 43 wonderful years. Loving father of Christopher Henning (Michelle) and Nikki Henning. Beloved Opa/Opi to his wonderful grandchildren Caprice and Avery Henning, Jackson and Cooper Fowler. He will be dearly missed by his sister Herta Zimmer (Hans), niece Hildegard, nephews Hans, Gerhard and Peter and their families all of Austria. He will be remembered and missed by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Christina Ashcroft and niece Alexandra Ashcroft all of British Columbia. Predeceased by his mother Maria Henning and his brother Georg Henning.
Kurt was born in Grossprobstdorf, Romania in 1944 and eventually moved with his mother and siblings to Villach, Austria. At a young age, Kurt decided to spread his wings and move to Canada where he worked numerous jobs and eventually found a passion for Tool & Die. With the support and help of his loving wife Karin, they started a small business called C.N. Tool & Die Ltd., and with a lot of hard work and perseverance they created a great life for their family.
Kurt was a proud family man and even though his family was small, they were everything to him. He laughed and joked regularly but also loved fiercely. He was strong and independent but was also a big softie with the biggest heart. He would give you the shirt off his back and never asked for anything in return. He loved when his family was all together, spending time at the cottage and watching the grandkids enjoy the summer. He just wanted to make sure the family was close and always stuck together. We are grateful that he is finally at peace and we find comfort in knowing that he is reunited again with Karin. His humour, laughter and unwavering support and love will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank all the staff at St. Mary’s hospital in the Coronary Care Unit as well as the 3 East Inpatient Cardiology Unit.
Cremation has taken place. A Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The Memorial Service will begin in the Funeral Home’s Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room.
