Kenneth Michael Mathers
April 23, 1950 – February 10, 2025
With deep sorrow, the family of Ken Mathers announces his passing on
February 10, 2025, at Brantford General Hospital, following complications
from pneumonia.
Ken’s loving memory will be carried in the hearts of his devoted wife, Linda
(née Wood), his children Tammy (Lynn), Michael (Amanda), and his precious
grandchildren, Abby, Carly, Sophie, Natalie, and Liam.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vern and Betty Mathers, his in-laws, Lyle
and Edna Wood, as well as his beloved brother, Roy, and siblings-in-law
Diana (Lorne(d)), Pat, Jack, and Doug. Ken’s legacy of love and laughter lives
on in his surviving siblings—Danny (Jan), Susan, Ruthanne, Ron (Cheryl),
Bruce (Kim(d)), Albert, and Lloyd (Sandra)—and in the arms of his extended
family; in-laws Jim (Deb), Brian, Tom (Candy), Kim and countless cousins,
nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
Born in Strathroy, Ken made Waterford his home, where he met the love of his
life, Linda. Together, they built a life filled with love, and laughter, marrying on
September 9, 1972, at Hartford Baptist Church. Their love for family was the
foundation of everything—whether in their years running KLM Trucking, a
family business they were so proud of, or in the quiet moments spent
together, travelling to Pigeon Forge for the Shades of the Past car show.
Ken’s passion for the open road, honed through a 43-year career in trucking,
reflected his spirit. But perhaps his greatest joy was his love of classic cars—
he could name every make, model, and year with ease, often delighting…or
tormenting his family with impromptu quizzes on road trips.
Ken was always up for a chat, he enjoyed speaking to any and everyone,
sometimes to his family’s dismay. He wasn’t one to display his emotions, but
his actions spoke volumes. He was a cherished neighbor, always there when
someone needed a hand, offering kindness without hesitation. Though he
kept his emotions close to his heart, his love for those around him was
unwavering and evident in everything he did.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the future, details to follow. In the
meantime, the family has honored Ken with a private cremation. In lieu of
flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in
his memory.
