Obituary of Kenneth Lincoln Brittain
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Lincoln Brittain which occurred on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on September 24, 1934, he was the son of the late William and Patricia (Bond) Brittain.
Kenneth, a highly respected and a tireless worker, touched many lives, formed countless friendships throughout his years. He started out in the Coast Guard, moved into sheet metal work before working at the drydock. Following the drydock’s closure, Kenneth joined the labourer’s union and took up maintenance at the Irving Oil Refinery, where he earned the nickname “Sea Can Kenny” or many may know of him by his earlier nickname, “The Codfather”. He will be missed by many.
Kenneth leaves behind his daughter, Bonnie-Jean Brittain (Amanda); granddaughter, Kira Poirer; best and closest friend, Kevin Jones; sister, Sandra Hatfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Patricia Anne; brothers, Robert “Bob” Brittain and William “Billy” Brittain.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations in memory of Kenneth may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Veteran’s Affairs.
