Kenneth Wilkinson Obituary
Kenneth “Ken” Wilkinson
February 15 1937 – April 3 2025
Ken left this world suddenly on April 3, 2025, At the age of 88 . He lived a life that touched four generations, leaving behind not just memories, but lessons in love that will echo through his family for years to come.
Ken’s early years were defined by a strong work ethic and a commitment to serving others. He spent several years at CFB Borden and CFB North Bay, where he was celebrated for his diligence and reliability. His colleagues at CFB Borden and CFB North Bay knew him as the trustworthy and reliable individual they could always count on. However, it was at home where his true character truly came to light. But ask him about those days and he’d rather tell you about meeting Joyce, the woman who would become his wife and the foundation of his world.
Their love story wasn’t the stuff on movies – it was better. It was genuine , built on morning coffees, shared dreams, and the kind of partnership that made everyone around them believe in forever.
Life wasn’t always gentle with Ken. He said goodbye too soon to his mom Nerine Wilkinson his cherished daughter Jo-Anne and his beloved wife Joyce of 56 years that left an ache that truly never healed. But even in his deepest grief, Ken showed us what strength truly means. He kept going, kept loving, kept being the rock his family needed. He had this way of turning pain into purpose, of making sure every family members knew they were precious, irreplaceable and showed his family how to face life with grace and resilience.
He leaves behind a rich legacy of love that spans four generations. His daughter, Donna St-Pierre (Alain St-Pierre), and his son Gary Wilkinson. As a proud grandfather, Ken took great pleasure in his grandchildren: Vanessa Smith (Devin Smith), Brandon Wilkinson (Laurisa Lougheed), Cassandra Clayton (Blair Clayton), and AJ Levesque-St-Pierre. His happiness was further enriched by his great-grandchildren, Levi, Scarlett, Riley, Jackson, Gray, Violet, Winter, and Kenzly, Each new baby was a miracle to Ken, another chance to share his seemingly endless capacity for love whom added a unique light to his life and will forever hold a special place in his heart.
You’d find him most days in his favorite chair, watching his great-grandchildren play his face glowing with joy. When he wasn’t there, he’d be in his shed or garden, humming old tunes, finding peace in the simple work of his hands. He never needed to be the star of the show—he just needed his family near. But that was our Ken. The one who’d slip you a twenty “just because” and squeeze your shoulder in hard times. The one who knew when to listen and when to share a bit of wisdom.
Some people leave behind wealth or achievements. Ken left us something far more precious – he showed us how to love without condition, how to face hardship with grace, and how to find joy in life’s simplest moments. His legacy isn’t just in the memories we hold, but in the way his family will continue to love each other, support each other, and gather together, always leaving an empty chair for the man who taught them what family really means. We’ll miss his stories, his wisdom, his hugs. But mostly, we’ll miss the way he made each of us feel: cherished, worthy, and completely loved.Ken wasn’t just a patriarch; he was his family’s North Star.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Hillside Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Day Program.
