Obituary of Kenneth (Kenny) Roberts, New Waterford
It is with deep sorrow we announce Kenneth “Kenny” Roberts, 70, of New Waterford passed away peacefully at An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with Support Staff by his side on February 1st, 2025.
Kenny was born on March 26th,1954 in Glace Bay to Sheila Deane Smith–Roberts and Roy Roberts.
Kenny is survived by his sister, Brenda Roberts–Vania, Scarborough , Ontario.
Kenny resided with Cape Breton Residential Society at 3463 Pellatt Ave, New Waterford. Kenny greatly enjoyed the simple things in life, being involved in the community, daily trips to Tim Horton’s for tea, attending hockey games, walking on the Sydney boardwalk, dancing at gatherings, and dining out at local restaurants.
He loved to spend time with his housemates and staff, celebrating holidays, birthdays, and any special events. When at home, Kenny always looked forward to tossing his stuffed toys with staff and housemates. He enjoyed completing puzzles, building with blocks, listening to music, and relaxing in his recliner.
Kenny had an infectious smile that would light up the room. He had a contagious laugh that would have everyone laughing along with him. When happy, he would jump up and down with joy. Kenny was a jokester, always removing and throwing his socks with a laugh. Many great memories were made around holiday’s, especially his house visits with Mrs. Clause and Santa. Kenny thrived at parties; dancing, socializing, and truly enjoyed the treats. Kenny’s strength and fortitude were truly inspiring to all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will be at Chalmers Cemetery, alongside his grandmother Sarah (Sally) Smith in Dominion, at a later date.
All who knew and loved Kenny are invited to join in celebrating his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Animal Shelter or charity of your choice.
