Kenneth Percy (Ken) Hart, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday March 21st, 2025, at Vision Nursing Home.
Born on September 9th, 1935, in Arkona Ontario, Ken was the eldest son of the late Leland and Ruby Hart (nee Goldhawk). Ken grew up in Point Edward Ontario and settled in Sarnia where he spent his career as a skilled butcher with Walker Bros., Dominion, and Loblaws SuperStore.
An avid camper and fisherman, Ken found joy in the great outdoors and passed this love on to his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were spent sharing stories around the campfire and at the Sarnia Bay, untangling fishing lines, and teaching his grandchildren how to properly bait a hook.
Ken will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Bev (Hill); his children Karen (2019) (John), Bob (Caroline), Kristy (Brent), and Beth (Tom); his grandchildren, Dave (Melissa), Krista (Dave), Jordan (Caitlin), Ryan (Dash), Sam, Brooklynn (Conner), Carter (Kyla), Charlotte; his two great-grandchildren Abby and Lily. Ken is also survived by his loving daughter-in-law Debbie (Peter), his dear sister Sharon, his brother Don, sisters-in-law Sues, Cathy and Connie, and brother-in-law Michael (Audrey).
Ken is preceded in death by his in-laws Bunker and Edith Hill, sister Majorie, brothers-in-law Harry, Wayne, Ron and Rennie, and sister-in-law Loretta.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Amy MacLean, as well as the staff of Vision Nursing home for their compassionate care and support throughout Ken’s illness.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial open house will be held to celebrate Ken’s life at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a time of tribute taking place at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia Lambton or Vision Nursing Homes’ Activities Fund. Though Alzheimer’s may have taken his memories, it could never erase the love he shared with his family. He will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
