It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ken in his home on December 12, 2024 at the age of 88 years.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Cassie, and his cherished daughters: Cathy (Bill) Welyki, Angela (Mike) Clark, Andrea (Chris) Joseph and Leigh-Ann (Ron) Rudd. He’ll also be missed by 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Janine (Jenny), Jonathan; Taylor (Colin), Brett; Connor, Rachel, Meghan; Gavin and Tristen. Great grandchildren Brooklyn and Lincoln; his brother Gordon Pollon and sister Carole Ross and numerous relatives and friends across Canada and the U.S.A.
He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Eleanor (Witty), brother-in-law Keith Bain, grandson Jaxon Joseph and sister-in-law Gerry Anderson.
Ken was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he attended first grade before his family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1942 and this was his home for many years. He moved to St. Albert, Alberta in 1962 and became an active member of the community. He was a Charter and Life Member of the St. Albert Kinsmen Club, a non-presiding Justice of the Peace, and a business man. He opened the St. Albert Sportshop Ltd. on Perron Street in 1971. In 1986 Ken sold the Sportshop and went back into automotive sales with Edmonton Motors Limited where he was recognized by GM with a silver award as a Fleet Manager, he later worked with Airways Rentals, Leasing, Sales before retiring in 2008.
Above all, Ken loved his family and he had a special relationship with them. He loved his home, gardening, visiting with friends and neighbours, and watching the Edmonton Oilers! In 1998 he and Cassie joined the Goldbar Hiking Group with his brother Gordon and sister-in-law Gerry. They made many new friends hiking the Edmonton River Valley and the mountains in Banff and Jasper. Ken always said “we live in God’s country in Alberta”.
Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home in
St. Albert.
