Keith Eric Holden Obituary
Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, Keith was embraced into the comforting arms of his parents, Henry and Selena Holden (Ransford) and reunited with his adored sisters Mary Powell (Fred), Emily Gough (Raymond), Violet Bell (Gordon), and mother-in-law, Jenny Francis (Robson).
Keith is survived by his cherished wife of 70 years, Sylvia (nee Collin) and loving daughter Janet. Proud and supportive Grandpa to Andrew Holden and Chelsea Gater. Also survived by daughter Sandra Holden-Feucht (Dean), granddaughters Kaitlyn Pogorevc (Brian), Kristen Keough (Donovan), great-granddaughters, Hayden and Piper Pogorevc, all of B.C., as well as sisters-in-law Wendy Casey of Hamilton and Jean Brown in England. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends living in Canada, England, the USA, and Guernsey.
Keith was an electrician by trade and an ArcelorMittal (Dofasco) retiree. He served in the R.A.F. (UK) prior to marrying the love of his life, Sylvia in 1954. In true testament to his quest for travel, Canada became “home” in 1967, emigrating from England. His life long love of horses allowed for the creation of “KeeSyl Stables” and the hobby of harness horse racing, spanning several decades. Square dancing with the Waterdown Village Squares and the Desert Twirlers (Arizona) were “second family” and forged many friendships across Canada and the United States.
Keith’s immediate family extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at Grandview Lodge along with the compassionate nurses at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in Dunnville, Ontario. Added thanks to Cardiologist, Dr. B. Stevens and his staff for their dedicated care since 2008. Additionally, extra special thanks go out to John & Donna, Bill & Linda, Jimmy Lee & Ila, Mary (Walt) Power for your unwavering friendship, care, and support over many years.
At Keith’s request, cremation has already taken place with arrangements entrusted to Kitching, Steepe & Ludwig Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Keith’s life will be held at a future date, with direct details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
“May you rest in eternal peace and tranquility until we meet again…All my love, Sylvia”
