It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Kathy Francis-Sams, who left us on March 10, 2025.
Born October 2, 1971, to Joan (Muise) MacVicar, Kathy grew up on Mira Road and attended Cape Breton University. Over the years, she built a successful career, with the majority of her professional life spent at Yellow Pages. More recently, Kathy had ventured into consulting, which allowed her to semi-retire and spend more cherished time with her family.
Kathy was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Stella Muise; brother, Steven Francis; stepfather, John MacVicar; former husband, James Bartlett; and father-in-law, Michael Bartlett.
She is survived by her mother, Joan (Muise) MacVicar; devoted husband of 16 years, Greg Sams; three children, Lindsey (Devon) Palmer, Angela (Adrian) Bartlett and Jordan Francis; adored grandchildren, Maisie and Hamish, who brought her immeasurable joy; and lifelong best friend, Jan.
Kathy lived life with boundless energy and enthusiasm. She loved spending time outdoors, whether walking, traveling, or simply being with those she loved. Above all, Kathy’s greatest pride, joy and accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, and she spoke of them with an endless sense of love and pride. Her absence will leave a chasm in her family.
A woman of deep faith, Kathy began each day with devotion to God, grounding herself in the Word. Her unwavering belief and love for Christ were evident in everything she did.
Kathy’s legacy is one of love, faith, and dedication to family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Kathy’s life and legacy will be held at Hineni Church (formerly St. Anthony Daniel Church, Alexandra St., Sydney) on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30 am, with a reception to follow.
