It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Katherine Anne Tucker on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances. Kathy passed away peacefully with family by her side.
Family was very important to Kathy. She and her husband, Gib, spent many years watching their boys play hockey, making many valuable memories and friends along the way. In their later years, their trips to the rink didn’t slow down as they continued to cheer on their grandchildren. If not at the arena, they could be found spending time with family at the cabin. In recent years, when mobility became an issue, Kathy spent many hours at home enjoying time with her grandchildren, playing games, and visiting.
Kathy was born on June 23, 1951, to Jim and Mary Mitchell. In 1968, she married the love of her life, Gib and built a beautiful family together.
Kathy was predeceased by her son Micheal, parents Jim and Mary, sister Julie and mother and father-in-law Gib and Lillian. She leaves behind her husband Gib, sons Bill (Sandra), Gib Jr, and AJ. Grandchildren Jon (Karen), Hailey, Micheal, Taliah, Jaxon and Kamden. Brother, Dave, Brother-in-law Brian (Lynn) and Jake and sister-in-law Ann Marie (Karl). As well as nieces and nephews Charlie (Tracy), Koen, Aubrynn, Anita, Max, Heidi (Chris), Scottie and Gage and her beloved dog Beau, and cat Kitty.
As per her wishes, there will not be a formal service and a private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers in memoriam donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund.
The family wants to send a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and Fort Frances La Verendrye Hospital.
An angel lived among us, a gift from god above.
She showered us with kindness and shared with us her love.
She cherished every moment with the man who was her life;
walking hand in hand together, facing life with all its strife.
She loved her children dearly, each one a different way,
nestled close within her heart. Though, now, she’s far away.
She’s gone to live with Jesus. But, she’s here with us,
today, smiling down on every one of us, and telling us she’s okay.
