Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Karen Marie Oxford-Sheppard announce her passing on January 29th, 2025 at the Western Long-Term Care-Still Waters unit, at the age of only 57 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her sons: Danieal (Andrea), and Andrew; grandchildren: Liam, and Riley Oxford; her dear mother: Mary Oxford; and brothers and sisters: Gary (Grace), Matt (Audra), Darlene O’Brien (Sean), Terry, Kim Oxford-Childs (Greg), and Aaron (Cassandra); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Karen is predeceased by her father: Ford Weston Oxford (1995); and grandson: Brady (2019).
Karen spent many years fighting a courageous battle against Huntington’s Disease, but she still always managed to put her best face forward. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend; and those who were lucky to know her, will surely miss her. Fly high with the angels, Karen. Your fight is over.
The family would like to extend a very heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Western Long-term Care-Still Waters unit for their endless care and support of our dear loved one. Your compassion will never be forgotten.
At her request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place at 1 PM on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at Country Haven Funeral Home, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM in the Country Haven Chapel with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Karen’s memory to the Huntington Society of Canada (www.huntingtonsociety.ca/), or a charity of one’s choice.
