June Logarta Welsh Obituary
June Logarta Welsh, aged 73, passed away peacefully at home in Stratford, Ontario, on Monday, December 30, 2024. Husband Michael was at her side.
June was born in Manila, Philippines, daughter of Milagros (Esteban) and Julio (Roa) Logarta. She was sister to Julio Jr. and Augusto. Her parents and brothers are deceased.
June married Michael in 1976 while he served at the Canadian Embassy, Manila. Over 33 years, the Foreign Service took them to Ottawa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Washington, DC, and Barbados.
June and Michael have two children. Patrick, a lawyer in Toronto, and Pamela (Sidey), are proud parents of Theodore, Willa, and Riley. Daughter Caroline is a Nurse Practitioner at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York, and is married to Kevin Whittam, a lawyer in New York.
Enjoying a career specializing in IT with Global Affairs Canada, June retired in 2004. Michael retired in 2009. After a lifetime of moves at employer direction, June decided that she would choose where they would ultimately live.
Moving to Stratford in 2014 brought June enormous pleasure. She made countless friends, both ‘born n’raised’ and newcomers. She enjoyed theatre – especially musicals – and painting and gardening. She was delighted to receive city recognition of her garden in 2024.
Her warmth and charm won many friends. Nothing gave her more pride and pleasure than extending Filipino hospitality to visitors to her home and garden. She said repeatedly she could not have been happier anywhere else.
