In Loving Memory of Judith Anne Cheverie
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Judith Anne Cheverie on January 26, 2025, in Brockville, at the age of 75. Born to Neil and Jane (nee MacLennan) Cheverie, Judy grew up as a tremendous help to her large family, fostering a spirit of resilience and kindness that would define her life.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Steven Woodcock, and her cherished children: Sueling Ching (Mark Fournier), Nancy Ching (David Hamilton), and Kristopher Ching (Lianne Levesque). She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Janie Ching (2018). Judy was also a devoted stepmother to Joe Woodcock and a proud grandmother to Alex Hamilton and Sloane Fournier, who brought immense joy to her life.
She leaves behind her dear siblings: Tom Cheverie (Carol), David Cheverie, Bob Cheverie (Gloria), Paul Cheverie (Kathy), Linda Cheverie, Lucy Mathers (Wayne), Susan Heidemann (Roland), and Teri Chattaway (Dave). Judy was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn French (Guy). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
At 18, Judy married Lenny Ching and embarked on the journey of motherhood while working in hospitality and continuing to support her younger siblings. Despite facing personal struggles throughout her life, Judy’s determination to “keep calm and carry on” never wavered. In the last decade of her life, she found new purpose, reconnecting with family and friends, embracing personal growth, and respecting the choices of others.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sonya Lafontaine for the compassionate care and friendship she provided to Judy over the past ten years. Sonya’s support brought Judy many joyful outings, heartfelt conversations, and shared laughter, enriching her life immeasurably.
Judy’s kindness, wit and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
