It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Lillian Miller at Sunset Manor, Collingwood, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 19, 1931, Joyce was in her 93rd year, a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished.
Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Howard (Bud) Miller (2004), with whom she shared many wonderful years. She was a devoted mother to Ronald Miller, Robert Miller (Maxine), and Brenda Sheridan (Tony), and a cherished grandmother to Dave Schlueter/Miller (Sarah), Robbie Miller (Roanna), Matthew Miller, Emily Hill (Kirk), Amanda Keay (Ted), and Katherine Scott (Adam) and the late Kenneth Schluter/Miller.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she embraced every opportunity to bring them together, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and delicious food.
Predeceased by her dear siblings Bert Greedy, Jack Greedy, Leonard Greedy (Doreen – still living), Doreen McMurray (Jack), and Florence James (Harold), Joyce leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and unwavering love for those she held dear.
Joyce had a zest for life that was truly infectious. She had a deep passion for dancing, from jitterbug and swing to line dancing, and even taught dance to others, sharing her love of movement and music. Her winters spent in Florida with her many friends were filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments. Baking was another of her passions, and her treats (butter tarts) were legendary among family and friends as well as her savvy at the Texas Hold’em Table.
Above all, Joyce was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She had an extraordinary ability to bring people together, using any excuse to host a family event or organize a gathering. She was a gracious entertainer, always ensuring her guests were well-fed and well-loved.
Joyce’s life was a testament to the power of love, music, and family. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Joyce’s life and venue will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sick Kids Hospital Foundation and or Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) Oncology Dept Barrie, organizations close to Joyce’s heart. Donations may be made by clicking here or through Cavill Funeral Home.
