Joy Gwendolyn Ward
1934-2025
Joy G. Ward, 90, of
Lakeville and Evergreen Nursing Home, Kentville, passed away Friday,
February 7, 2025. Born on March 13, 1934, and raised in Blue Mountain,
she was the daughter of the late Robert and Altena (Jones)
Woodworth.
Joy was a dedicated
member of the Centreville Congregation of Jehovah’s
Witnesses. She worked for many years at Zellers. Above all else, Joy
was a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her
parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Merrill Ward; and
siblings, Ronnie (in infancy), Betty, Bradford, Gail and Stanley. Joy
was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Joy is survived by her
children, William (Marlene) MacKay, Heather (John) Armstrong, Annie
(Kim) Strong and Mary MacKay; special daughter, Angela Pelton;
stepchildren, Linda (Chris) Tupper, May (David) Ward and Jimmy
(Claudia) Coleman; 14 grandchildren: Carlee (Dana) Brydon, Amanda
MacKay, Mya (Matthew) Olszewski, Tyler (Jacqueline) MacKay, Colin
(Jessica) MacKay, Sarah Armstrong, Emily (Matthew) Crandall, Jordan
(Corrinne) Armstrong, Seth (Chloe) Armstrong, Joy (Nick) Zambri, Jake
(Mandy) Martin, Micah (Heidi) Millett, Mitchell Millett and Charles
Stuart; 12 step-grandchildren: Joannie (Billy), Jenna (Taylor), Jesse,
Tyler, Kyle, Matthew, Lee, Brandi-Jo, Colten, Jake, Harley and Levi;
14 great-grandchildren: MacKay, Noah, Isabella, Hannah, Olivia, Levi,
Silas, Grace, Georgia, Lily, Owen, Mateo, London and Koda; 7
step-great-grandchildren: Emma, Mya, Jackson, Ryder, Bonnie, Zoey and
Luka; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended
family.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, by request. A memorial service
for Joy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 at the
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2 Baden Powell Drive,
Kentville. The service will also be streamed via ZOOM (Meeting ID:
84017371880, no password required.)
Donations in memory
may be made to JW.org or the Alzheimer Society of NS. Arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
