Joseph Leonard Orphyr, ‘Bob’, Theriault – Feb16/50-Dec. 24/24
Joseph Leonard Orphyr ‘Bob’ Theriault 74, of North Kingston, passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2024 with his loving wife Kathryn by his side.
Born in St. Paul, New Brunswick, to the late Bernadette and Leonard Theriault, Bob served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, proudly dedicating over 35 years to his country, retiring as a Master Warrant Officer. After leaving the military Bob had a small furniture repair business, volunteered with community events, enjoyed spending time with close friends and tinkered with mechanical and electrical repairs in his spare time.
He truly had a heart of gold… He was always available if you needed a helping hand and asked for nothing in return. He was a loving husband, father, a stepfather, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a father-in-law, brother-in-law, and a wonderful friend. So many people loved Orphyr because of his incredible charm, dry wit, caring personality, candid honesty, and ability to speak his mind with conviction and love.
Orphyr is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Kathryn (Jackson). Also, his children, Chantal Theriault (Mike Gero), Thunder Bay, Ont; Patrice Theriault, Dartmouth and Carole Pittman (Brad), Dartmouth. Step children, Krista-Lynn Caldwell (Jeff), Bridgetown, Eugena (Gena) Russell (Aliro King), Raeboro, Ont; loving grandfather to Stephanie and Natalie Pittman; step-grandfather to Alisha (Adam), Ryan, and Latricia (Brent) Caldwell; Rachel, and Faith (of Gena); brothers Raymond, Terrance Bay, Ont; Lionel, Hamilton, Ont; sisters Gisele Legacy (Norm), Athens, Ont., Eveline Theriault, Bathurst, NB, Mary-Jeanne Boudreau (Jacques), Caraquet, NB; in-laws, Lester, Chris (Eleanor), Dean (Jacquie), and Tim, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and his lifelong friend Gerard Dugas, Dugas, NB.
Besides his parents Orphyr was predeceased by brothers, Leandre and John. Step-parents, Clarence and Evelyn Jackson. Brothers-in-law, Bill (Bev), Stuart (Lesley), Howard (Eleanor), Gary; sisters-in-law, Audrey Fisher (Jackson), and Suzanne Jackson-Hill; granddaughter, Lydia Harding (Gena); niece, Natasha Rich (Lester), and nephew, Taylor Jackson (Tim).
Bob’s family is very grateful for the loving and compassionate care he received from Dr. John Drysdale, VON, and the palliative care teams.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation (Cardiology Department) www.vrhfoundation.ca/memorial-in-honour-gifts/, or the Inglewood Community Club (246 Inglewood Road, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, B0S 1C0).
Orphyr’s legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. ‘In valor, there is hope.’
